Description

Product Overview

The Single Sphere Expansion Joint is a compact rubber connector with one flexible sphere and flanged ends. It is used in building water supply, HVAC circulation, fire protection, circulating-water pump rooms, and general industrial utility lines.

Core Advantages

1. Compact three-layer single-sphere construction. Inner rubber, cord reinforcement, and an external cover are vulcanized into one short flexible body. At ceiling-mounted HVAC branches and packaged pump skids, the sphere absorbs three-direction movement and vibration within a restricted installation length.
2. PVC flange option for plastic and corrosion-sensitive piping. The lightweight non-metallic flange matches PVC or composite systems without introducing a heavy coated-steel connection. In humid utility rooms and chemical drainage lines, the flange avoids external rust and reduces load on plastic companion flanges.
3. Controlled PN6 to PN16 deformation. Reinforcement layers limit radial growth while preserving axial, lateral, and angular flexibility. When pumps cycle or control valves create repeated pressure changes, the sphere maintains its intended geometry and keeps cyclic load from concentrating at the flange bolts.

Customization Capabilities

  • Movement and length: Face-to-face length, rated movement, and vacuum construction are matched to the installation.
  • Rubber body: EPDM, NBR, or NR and any approved lining are selected for the medium.
  • Flange interface: PVC, coated carbon steel, SS304, or SS316 can be supplied with DIN, ANSI, JIS, GB, or project drilling.

Quality Control

Rubber batch properties and reinforcement materials are checked before molding. The cord layer count and flange-bead turn-up are inspected during lay-up. Vulcanization parameters are recorded by batch. Finished joints are measured for face-to-face length, flange alignment, bolt-hole accuracy, and sphere uniformity. Every unit receives a water-pressure test at 1.5 times design pressure and an air-tightness test at 1.1 times design pressure before release.

FAQ

Q: Are free samples available?

A: Yes. Standard samples can be supplied free of product charge. Freight and any special flange machining are confirmed before dispatch.

Q: What is the minimum order quantity?

A: The minimum order quantity is 10 pieces, and different sizes or flange materials can be combined after the specification list is approved.

Q: Can PVC flanges be used on hot-water systems?

A: Only when the PVC grade, temperature, pressure, and mating flange design are suitable. Stainless or steel flanges are selected when the temperature exceeds the plastic flange limit.

Q: Can the joint be installed horizontally or vertically?

A: Yes. In either orientation, the pipe and equipment must be independently supported so the rubber sphere carries no dead weight.
