It is used in chemical plants, pharmaceutical systems, electroplating lines, food processing facilities, semiconductor utilities, and environmental treatment pipelines carrying corrosive or high-purity media.

Description

Product Overview

The PTFE Lined Expansion Joint is a flexible rubber expansion joint with a PTFE lining over the fluid-contact surface. It is used in chemical plants, pharmaceutical systems, electroplating lines, food processing facilities, semiconductor utilities, and environmental treatment pipelines carrying corrosive or high-purity media.

Core Advantages

1. Continuous corrosion barrier. The PTFE liner covers the fluid-contact surface, keeping acids, alkalis, solvents, and high-purity liquids away from the flange metal and reinforcement. At chemical pump outlets and dosing lines, this prevents corrosion products and metal ions from entering the process stream.

2. Supported liner under repeated movement. The elastic pressure-bearing body carries the main load while the PTFE barrier flexes with it. The liner is not left to handle pressure and movement alone, which keeps the corrosion barrier more stable under thermal cycling and pump vibration.

3. Non-stick, low-retention bore. The smooth PTFE surface resists adhesion and deposit formation. In plating, pharmaceutical, food, or semiconductor service, lower retention limits cross-batch contamination and keeps the effective bore open between cleaning cycles.

Customization Capabilities

  • The PTFE liner can be specified by grade, thickness, full-bore coverage, and face-to-face length.
  • The pressure-bearing body can use EPDM or fluororubber, with PP, PE, FRPP, lined-steel, SS304, or SS316 flange options and project drilling.
  • Nominal size, connection type, and operating range can be configured for PN6 to PN16 and -70 to +230°C service.

Quality Control

PTFE liner material and thickness are verified before assembly. The liner surface and transitions are checked for pinholes, folds, inclusions, and exposed metal. Reinforcement molding and flange alignment are controlled to prevent the liner from being pinched during bolting. Finished joints receive hydrostatic testing at 1.5 times working pressure and air-tightness testing. Each bore is visually inspected and cleaned before the flange openings are protected for shipment. Third-party inspection is accepted.

FAQ

Q: How is the product packed for international shipping?

A: The bore is closed with clean protective covers, flange faces are wrapped, and the joint is cushioned in a carton or wooden case so the PTFE liner is not creased or contaminated.

Q: What is the lead time for custom-made products?

A: Custom-made PTFE lined joints normally require 40 to 50 days after the lining, reinforcement, dimensions, and flange details are approved.

Q: Can the joint be used for slurry service?

A: Yes. Particle size, solids concentration, velocity, and cleaning method are used to set the liner thickness and internal geometry for the slurry line.

Q: Can the liner be repaired after mechanical damage?

A: No field patch should be used on the wetted bore. A damaged liner must be replaced or returned for factory evaluation because a discontinuity removes the corrosion barrier.
