How Much Does It Cost To Replace An Expansion Joint?

The cost of replacing an expansion joint typically ranges from several hundred to tens of thousands of yuan. The specific price depends on factors such as the type of expansion joint, material, specifications, operating conditions, and installation complexity. The replacement cost for ordinary small-diameter rubber or carbon steel expansion joints is relatively low, while the cost of large-diameter, high-temperature and high-pressure, or special material (such as stainless steel or alloy steel) metal expansion joints increases significantly.

Main Cost Components

Equipment Body Price

Rubber Expansion Joint (DN50-DN300): 200-1500 yuan/unit Suitable for water pumps and air conditioning systems; price is affected by the rubber material

(EPDM/NBR/FKM).

Carbon Steel Metal Expansion Joint (DN100, 0.6MPa): 800-2500 yuan/meter Commonly used in ordinary heating pipelines; price increases with length and wall thickness.

Stainless steel corrugated expansion joint (DN150, 1.6MPa): 3000-8000 RMB/unit. Corrosion resistant and high-temperature resistant, widely used in chemical and steam systems.

Non-metallic fiber fabric expansion joint (for large-diameter flues): 5000-20000 RMB/set. Primarily used in power plants and boiler flue gas systems, including insulation and metal frame.

Installation and Labor Costs

Ordinary piping systems: 500-2000 RMB/time. Includes disassembly of old parts, alignment and installation, flange tightening, weld inspection, etc.

High-altitude, confined space, or pressurized operations: 2000-5000 RMB and above. Requires a professional construction team, equipped with hoisting, protective, and hot work permit measures.

Downtime and Ancillary Costs (Indirect Costs)

Industrial system downtime can result in losses of thousands of RMB per hour; therefore, preventative replacement is more economical than emergency repairs.
