Maintenance and Care of Rubber Fittings
Leave a message
The core of maintaining and caring for rubber fittings lies in scientific cleaning, environmental control, and regular inspection. Systematic maintenance can significantly extend their service life.
Precautions During Use
Avoid Overloading: Ensure the working pressure is within the rated range of the rubber fitting. Overpressure will accelerate material fatigue and aging.
Prevent Mechanical Damage: Avoid contact with sharp objects during installation or use to prevent scratches on the outer rubber layer; do not drag during handling to avoid structural deformation.
Control Bending Radius: Ensure the bending radius is not less than the minimum value specified by the product during installation. Excessive bending can lead to cracking of the inner layer or breakage of the reinforcing layer.
Storage and Environmental Management
Storage Environment: Store in a well-ventilated, dry, and cool place. Temperature should be controlled between 10–25℃, and relative humidity between 50%–70%. Avoid direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources (such as radiators).
Keep Away from Corrosive Substances: Do not store with strong acids, strong alkalis, oils, organic solvents, or other chemicals. These substances can cause the rubber to swell or become brittle. Proper Storage: Lay flat or roll up for storage, avoiding folding and pressure to prevent permanent creases and stress concentration.
Daily Inspection and Maintenance
Regular Inspection: It is recommended to check the appearance for wear, cracks, and signs of aging every quarter. Increase the inspection frequency for key areas (such as high-temperature, high-humidity, or vibration-prone areas).
Tightening Connections: Check flanges or joints for looseness. Bolts should be tightened evenly in a diagonal sequence to prevent leaks and uneven stress.
Emergency Handling: For minor leaks, try tightening or localized sealing with adhesive. If severe damage or aging is found, replace the fittings immediately.
Cleaning and Advanced Maintenance
Cleaning Method: Wipe the surface with a neutral detergent and warm water. Stubborn stains can be gently brushed with a soft brush. Do not use steel wool or strong corrosive cleaners.
Protective Treatment: Apply a special rubber protectant every six months to form an anti-UV protective film and delay aging. Small cracks can be repaired with liquid rubber filler.
Avoid these common misconceptions: Do not expose to direct sunlight for sterilization, as ultraviolet rays can reduce the strength of rubber by more than 60%; Vaseline is only suitable for silicone products, not natural rubber, as it can cause swelling.
