Expansion Joint Structure: Expansion joints have diverse structural designs, but they typically consist of the following main parts:

 

Bellowed Pipe: This is the core component of the expansion joint. It is made of multiple layers of thin metal sheets or pipes, formed into a corrugated shape through specific processes (such as hydroforming, mechanical rolling, etc.). The bellows has good elasticity and flexibility, capable of absorbing the expansion and contraction deformation of the pipeline.

 

Connecting Pipe: The connecting pipe is used to connect the bellows to the piping system, usually using welding or flange connections. The material and specifications of the connecting pipe must match the piping system to ensure reliable connection and sealing.

 

Flow Guide: Sometimes a flow guide is installed inside the expansion joint. Its function is to guide the flow of the medium, reducing the direct scouring of the bellows by the medium, thereby extending the service life of the expansion joint. The material and structure of the flow guide must be selected according to the properties of the medium (such as corrosiveness, temperature, etc.).

 

Tie Rods and Limiting Devices: To prevent damage to the expansion joint due to excessive expansion and contraction during operation, tie rods and limiting devices are usually installed. Tie rods limit the expansion joint's expansion and contraction, while limit devices prevent excessive movement of the expansion joint in a particular direction.

Flanges and fasteners: Flanges connect the expansion joint to the piping system, while fasteners (such as bolts and nuts) secure the flanges, ensuring a stable connection.
